The Drifting (The Velesi Trilogy) Book Two

It is Lily’s first day in the Velesi realm but not as the princess she was made to believe, but as a captive to a strange Lithi elf name Ziri – Tharin and Tolan’s mysterious brother. Who is he and why has he taken her? Or is he only a pawn in someone’s deadly game of chess?

Tharin and Lily discover a prophecy involving the Unnamed Sidhe and a way back to Eirrell, the birthplace of the Thirteen Clans. However, before they can get to the doorway to Eirrell, Lily must first make it to the Day of the Seating to take her rightful place on the throne of the Willow Clan.

Tharin must keep Lily safe until the Day of the Seating even if it means keeping the beautiful Sidhe warrior Kalis close to him. Will he be able to protect his naïve, but stubborn bride-to-be not just from Harlu but from his warrior mistress? He once again turns to his brother and cousin, to only find that Tolan has his own problems with his feisty Julia.

Thank goodness for the future king of Velesi that he has Phoris, Alorn and Mellis to cover his royal back.

Welcome to Velesi, a realm existing alongside our own with their own rules, their own players and their own way of life.

My Review:

I fall deeper and deeper into the storyline as Ms. Filloon weaves and crafts her magical web which captures you and puts you right along side of Lily, Tharin, Tolan and Julia. Once I started reading it I could not put it down as I anxiously wanted to see what would happen next. A must read for lovers of elves, orcs, dryads and all things magical.

About the Author:

L. Filloon is the author of the Velesi Trilogy: The Binding (Book 1), The Drifting (Book 2) and The Whispering (Book 3). She is currently working on her fourth book, The 7th Relic. Upcoming Series: The Warrior Elf and Thomas Kane.

My Review:

Yes, it's another zombie book but Mr. Briar has managed to add his own unique view so it makes this story different. Blood and gore abound and you will not be disappointed!

Isabel and The Wolf Part Two

Publication Date: November 5, 2014

Peter drove fast on the bumpy road, his low-slung car rebounding from one tire furrow to the next. Trees crowded into the windscreen, pale ghosts in the headlights. Isabel squeezed her eyes shut in terror, biting down on her lower lip so she wouldn’t make a sound.

Abruptly, the car came to a stop. She heard the driver’s side door opening and her eyes flew open. Peter leapt out and came around to her side. He opened her door, leaned in, and lifted her out, wrapped in the pelt.

She looked up at him, wide-eyed, barely able to see him in the darkness. She had the curious sensation of being unable to recall what he looked like. His features seemed elongated, more angular than before. He inhaled deeply through his nostrils.

"You’re scared?” he said in surprise.
“No. Well, a little. It’s just – I was worried we’d have an accident in the dark,” she said, in a small voice. "Oh.” He laughed. “Don’t worry – I could see perfectly well. And I know the road. You weren’t in any danger.” Isabel tried to laugh, but it came out as a dry, cracked sound.

“I’m sorry, we can’t drive here, as the path is too narrow, so I’ll have to carry you. It’s not far though,” Peter said. He reached inside the car and picked up some more pelts, before nudging the passenger door shut with his knee. Then he straightened up and, with Isabel in his arms, strode deeper into the woods.

My Review:

Hotter and Steamier Than The First

I love when a continuing story picks up where it left off and the storyline continues to get better and steamier as we go along. Don't pass this book up. Highly recommended!

It's now available:

The Unsaintly

Publication Date: August 15, 2014

It's not enough to question faith. One must wear it as armor against the darkness.

The Unsaintly is the journey of Isabel, the daughter of Louis VII and Blanche of Castile, who devoted her entire life to the servitude of God. When Isabel begins to suffer from stigmata, she learns that it is just the beginning of her role in the fight between Heaven and Hell. Her sacrifice is not great enough when the abuse inflicted by the stigmata she suffers leaves is then replaced by the real horrors inflicted by God's rival; Lucifer.

All that she's learned up to this point will be tested along with her faith, in this horrific story of good, evil, and everything in between.

It was a warm, clear summer sky over the trail to the private garden of one of the monasteries in the south of France.  During the hour following lunch and prayers, many of the clergy would tend to the garden.

Among the meticulously cared for roses were statues so lifelike it felt as though they would turn and move at any moment.  Saints with upturned eyes gazing infinitely into heaven were accompanied by angels with open wings playing with doves in the small ponds that trickled with the sounds of the fountain centered in it. Rows and rows of flowers teased the senses.  The aroma was not one that could easily be forgotten as each breeze brought about another waft of fragrance released from the petals that waved gently on the air.

Two men in particular, dressed in monks’ robes, followed the cobble stoned path to a more private area where benches would give them a place to sit.  The soft rustling of their hems passed over their sandals and they both held their hands clasped within large brown sleeves.  The man on the left kept his oversized cowl low over his face, shadowing his features while the other had his hood down, soaking in the light of the day.

Finding a secluded table, the older one was pleased to see the ornate table was topped with marble chess pieces carved by the hands of the monks inside.  He motioned to the empty seat across from him and the other chuckled before accepting the offer, sitting down. The duo seemed deeply engaged in quiet conversation, leaning in as they took turns responding. Every so often one would look over their shoulder or around to keep their eye on their surroundings.  Sometimes, one would even laugh and shake his head at a comment made by the other.

Every now and then, between conversations a piece was moved by one and the other would quietly contemplate his counter.  As light as the topic may have appeared to be, the tension of competition radiated out from both of them.

“This is an age old debate between us” the man on the left said. He then peered up from under his hood at the old man on his right side.  His companion smiled and looked up at the heavens, crystal blue eyes rivaled any ocean and his hair was a brilliant white, betraying his age and wisdom.

The clergy around them never seemed to take much notice of them as they sat there.  The older male on the right removed his purse and opened it to stick his hand inside and throw out some stale crumbs for the birds that appeared to be drawn to him.  Some would sit on his shoulder and sing beautiful songs that birds were never heard to sing.  He smiled at his new feathered friends then leaned forward sliding his piece over a few squares (Nb1-c3, Bc8-g4)[1]. “So it is.  But do I not know all things?” was the reply.

“That has never been proven” Grinned the dark man, sliding another piece into place. "Hasn’t it?” replied the white haired gentleman. A frown came over the older man’s opponent at the move and he refocused on the board as he responded.  Agitation was starting to show through in his voice as he lifted his piece and slid it into position (h2-h3, Bg4xf3).

“You always make it seem as if you knew I would question you.  I disagree.  I think you were shocked to find out that free will was a natural progression of my creation. I was your first, after all.” He chided. “The one made most like your image.” "You’re a spoiled child, Lucifer.  You always have been.”

"Ah, but father, you made me this way and then you cast me away? Discarded like rubbish?” The dark man hissed his reply. “That will make this event all the more, sweeter. I shall, once more, taint your current fascination.  I will once again be that thorn in your side. I will never let you know peace.”

My Review:

A well written book from beginning to end. You could feel the struggle between good and evil and it gave me goosebumps. If you are offended by blasphemy then don't read it but know that you'll be missing out. I look forward to reading more from this author.

About the Author:

Lisa Vasquez was born and raised in Chicago and moved to Houston in 1996 where she now resides. She has always enjoyed reading, horror, movies, the arts, and studying religion. THE UNSAINTLY is her debut book which is the first book in an upcoming series.

Growing up she attended Marquette Elementary School on Chicago's south side. Despite Chicago being one of the largest cities in the United States she has kept in close contact with many of her childhood friends who have shared her common interests and helped inspire her love of creativity, especially in things supernatural or horror related. She is a behind the scenes, co-creative developer for Drive-in of the Damned Radio Show with one of her best friends, Paul Mcvay, who was also part of the same group of miscreants and misfits who might have been plucked straight out of a John Hughes film.

Her mother and father were also born and raised in Chicago, in the south side community of Bridgeport. Her mother stayed home until she was two, then worked for the City of Chicago. Her father was a Vietnam Vet who died in 1995. Her parents divorced when she was just two years old. Lisa used her stories and worlds she created in her mind to cope and entertain herself.

When her mother remarried, her step-father fed and nurtured the creativity with the whole family using songs, art, and skits at home and bringing them to the performances of his local band. Lisa's mother and step-father built a business together from the ground up, and taught her that dreams aren't just far away lands, they can come true with good work ethic, solid morals and a firm grasp of business and marketing.

When her step-father grew ill with end-stage renal failure, Lisa thought her calling in life was to become a doctor. With four kids and a full-time job, she went to school to pursue it but became disenchanted with the system and lack of encouragement, not from friends and family but surprisingly from peers, and the school itself. "There was little help for those that really wanted it, and might be struggling because they had other obligations. There seemed to be more resources and opportunities for those that didn't have families, jobs, or other obstacles. Money and loans may buy your seat, but it wouldn't buy your success."

Releasing the strings of that dream, she went on to focusing on her writing which had continued to be her comfort and her friend in darker times. It would release tension, dark thoughts, depression and questions within her that often left her lying awake at night, unable to sleep.

She describes each character she creates as the monsters, alter egos and extensions of her "personalities". Every conflict, love, debate and struggle they go through will relate in some way to something she's gone through, told through a delicately woven world her mind has created in a time when she needed it the most.

Now Molly has a new plan, to attempt to lead a normal life, and ban the contact with any of the dead. Realizing that she is madly in love with one of them was never part of that plan. However neither life or death ever go as planned and Molly is called upon to perform her role as the family Crypt Keeper… Is she up for the task? Only time will tell.

Chapter One Excerpt

“Good girls go to heaven, bad girls go everywhere.” ~ Helen Gurley Brown

The alarm blaring on the bedside table woke me out of the dead of sleep. “Ugh,” I groaned, picking up a pillow and chucking it at what I hoped was the general direction of the annoying tones. When the alarm didn’t cease I surrendered, cracking open one eye to read the time. I went from drowsy to full-out panic mode when my mind registered eight thirty-five p.m.“Holy Mother of God!” Flinging the blankets off the bed I vaulted forward, only to find that my left leg was tangled in the bed sheet and I went down knee first onto a kitchen chair. “Idiot, stupid ass monkey piece of shit!” I shouted the instant the pain registered.

Wrenching my leg free and shoving the chair aside I sat down on the floor and assessed my injuries. I’d have a nice bruise on my knee and shin, otherwise, nothing serious. Then I remembered I was working on curbing my need to use profanity every other word and snapped the rubber band on my wrist twice, wincing at yet another sting of pain. I’d been reading this self-help book recently that swore by this technique. The wristband bad habit treatment is designed to take you out of your own head and snap you back into reality. The wristband treatment will act as a reminder to those with habitual undesirable occurrences that they need to overcome their bad behaviors. I wasn’t convinced in the method; however, if I ever planned on working with children my potty mouth needed to go.

Standing to my feet, I picked up the chair and walked it back into the dining room where it belonged. I should know better by now. The furniture being moved around the house, the dishes in the bathtub and all my frozen foods set out on the counters to spoil was a common occurrence in my tiny apartment these days. He was mad at me again. They all were. I’d left him…er, them. No, I wasn’t going there. I didn’t move over one hundred miles away to dwell on the past. “Never look back, Molly. The past is a wilderness of horrors.” I quoted my favorite line from the movie The Wolfman. I did, however, replace Lawrence’s name with my own. I would have gone a lot farther if it wasn’t for my younger brother still living at home there. I was always available for him, mostly. All right, I’d been a shitty sister but my intentions were honorable. Thankfully he didn’t have the curse. It skipped him and I was glad.

Suddenly I realized that the alarm was still going off in my bedroom. I made my way back into the room, which didn’t take longer than a few seconds since my apartment is a whopping seven hundred square feet that consisted of a tiny kitchen, living room/dining room combo, a bathroom that I could barely turn around in and bedroom. After shutting it off I began to dress in jeans and a black t-shirt that had Party like a rock star written across the chest. Being a no-frills kind of chick, jeans always seemed like the obvious choice for any and every occasion. I pulled my dark brown hair back into a ponytail and bent down to slip on my chucks.

“You aren’t seriously going to wear your hair like that, are you?” a voice behind me asked. Shrieking, I nearly jumped out of my skin again. “Holy shit!” Turning around, I faced the intruder and narrowed my eyes at the young woman dressed in leather pants, biker boots that belonged to me and a red tank that read Bite Me! Her hair was dyed jet black with dark green chunky highlights today. The color was always changing but her razored-at-the-chin hairstyle was always the same. She stood there smirking at me with her hands on her hips. “Aren’t you a little too old to continue with these ridiculous pranks?” Not knowing her actual age, she and I had estimated it around twenty-four or so, the same as me.

She rolled her eyes and plopped down on my secondhand sofa that had seen far better days. “After all these years you should be used to it by now. I mean, really Molly, you’re too easy.” “Jewels, I bruised the shit out of…” I snapped the band on my wrist. “I mean bruised the dickens out of my shin!” The past twelve years we’ve been friends she’d never told me her real name. I assumed it was Julie—hence “Jewels”—but wasn’t certain. I’d asked her a million times over the years, and she’d always reply with the same answer: My old name is as irrelevant as my past. That name died along with that part of my life. I didn’t agree with her; her past was obviously relevant. For the sake of our friendship I’d let it go.

She rolled her caramel-colored eyes and blew a giant bubble in the gum she was chomping on. When it popped she shook her head. “I don’t know anything about that.” She eyed the rubber band on my wrist. “What the hell are you doing to your wrist there? They locked people in solitary for less than that on my ward.”

Ignoring her reference to her institutionalization period because the mere thought of it made my heart hurt, I answered her question. “I’m trying to clean up my speech. No one will hire a pediatric behavioral therapist that swears every other word. I’d gotta run—I’m late for class. Don’t mess up my boots, they’re my favorites.” Snatching my sling bag off the back of the dining chair I went out the front door, closing it behind me.

My Review

I started reading this book earlier today and finished it just a short while ago. I had an extremely hard time putting it down as the storyline is truly captivating and mind blowing. You will not be disappointed with this fast paced page turner. Kudos to Mr. Sharp. Cannot wait to read book two!!

About the Author

J. Scott Sharp has been writing for much of his considerable life, but only just now decided to take it seriously at 48. This makes him a little crazy. At least his wife Marti and his two dogs, Sumo and Tnur think so.

He has his degree in psychology, which qualifies him for nothing except understanding what you're thinking. At least he likes to think so. He also thinks he understands what you're feeling, but that's a whole other problem.

He lives in Arizona where he splits his time between watching TV on DVD, working, and writing. His hobbies include stage and close-up magic and reading until his eyes won't stay open. Closed eyes make it harder to do stage magic, but he tries.

He is the author of short stories Not Even There, Three Blackbirds, and Cold-blooded and The List of Five Series.

Jinxed (Jinxed Trilogy) Book One {Free Book}

Sixteen-year-old Eliza Thorn was never supposed to see the people with the white eyes like marbles, hear whispers in the dark and have knowledge of a hidden world. And she wouldn’t, if Eliza wasn’t good at stealing.

When Eliza fails to return the jeweled pin from the obviously too-rich-for-her-own-good lady accidently drops, everything changes. Now she sees white-haired, white-eyed people walking among oblivious humans. Realizing she’s the only one who can see them, Eliza thinks she’s hallucinating and on the verge of insanity when one of the white-eyed people saves her from a demon. This is her first encounter with the glass people—who’ve lived here undetected for hundreds of years.

What Eliza didn’t know was that the pin was an initiation coin never meant for her. Now, she’s bound to serve not only the guardians who made the coin, but also to a demon, gorgon, and the glass people who’d put their mark on it. The only way out is to kill those she’s bound to, but they also hold the key to Eliza’s past—a past involving things she never knew.

With worlds colliding, Eliza is a pawn in their game, and she may have the power to decide the outcome.

This was a completely unexpected short story that captured me and kept me in its grip until the end. Mr. Sharp has a way of giving life to his characters and shows just how far someone can go when they allow betrayal to consume them.

After reading this short story you will want to find and read more of this author's work. Job well done Mr. Sharp!

My Review

Loved it as it is told from a different point of view. A must read!

About the Author

Jamie was born into a big, crazy family of 6 children. Being the youngest, she always got away with anything and would never shut up. Constantly letting her imagination run wild, her teachers were often frustrated when her 'What I did on the weekend' stories contained bunyips and princesses.

Yet nothing compared to writing. Quiting the rat race to spend quality time with her laptop named Lily, Jamie has written several novels and screenplays.

Spanning a number of genres and mediums, Jamie writes whatever inspires her from ghost stories to teenage love stories to tantalising murder mysteries. Nothing is off limits.

A self-confessed television addict, dog lover, Taylor Swift fan, and ghost hunter, Jamie loves nothing more than the thrill of sharing her stories.

The Daughters of Avalon (Seven Sisters of Avalon Series) Book One

This is an epic saga of two families living at the dawn of the Dark Ages who are brought together not only through the power of magic, but by love and passion that survives through many lifetimes. Together, they work to restore Britain to its glory, battling against political opposition on all sides as the country sinks deeper into despair and oppression.

In this series, you will revisit some of your favorite "fairy tale" stories from the past with a new and "grown up" perspective. As these champions of the Old Ways struggle to bring magic back to Britain, you will find yourself immersed in their sacred, and sometimes dangerous, world.

Daughters of Avalon is a story about the inter-connectedness that touches us all and how the fine strands of circumstance bind us together in an intricate and interwoven dance of life. Bran, The Merlin of Britain Reborn, and the love of his life, Lillian, who is The Lady of the Lake, work to assure the safety of Avalon and the people who practice the Old Ways on the mainland. Working aggressively to end the rampant persecution that took hold after the death of Arthur, they find a unique and unusual way to propagate the return of magic throughout the land.

This is book one of the series Seven Sisters of Avalon that follows the secret ambassadors of Avalon out into the world to preserve the sanctity of magic and find their own adventures in the construct of some of our familiar childhood tales. Enjoy these familiar stories told as you have never heard them before, set against the backdrop of ancient Britain.

A.R. Wise does it again with another outstanding book. I didn't think it would be possible to do a fantasy/zombie genre but Mr. Wise has proven me wrong. I enjoyed the book so much that I stayed up to finish the book. Highly recommend this book and can't wait till the second book.

My Review

The storyline was thrilling from beginning to end. So much so that I stayed up until I finished the book as I couldn't bring myself to put it down. I was caught up in all of the characters. I laughed, cried and felt rage as I read it through. Can't wait to read book two.

As a child I spent more time than I'm going to admit to wishing I was Samantha from Bewitched. Yet despite hours spent perfecting the nose twitch; sadly I have to say that - so far at least - no magical ability has been discovered. Now I have to say it's looking unlikely, but remain hopeful. I was born in Kent in the UK and moved to France in 1998. I currently live, according to my husband, in LALA land but the rest of the time in the middle of nowhere in darkest Dordogne, as far from the real world as possible. I'm married with three daughters and a wild imagination.

I like Tarot cards and anything creepy... except spiders.I worship at the altar of Florence + the Machine and am addicted to music, as long as it's LOUD! I love chocolate, think The Wizard of Oz is the scariest film I've ever seen and still believe in faeries.

A Shade of Vampire

On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.

A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood.

She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine. An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains.

Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince.

Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.

Will she succeed? ...Or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks?

About Bella Forrest:
I guess my life as a writer started when I was five; I'd sit under the kitchen table with my box of multi-colored wax crayons (I miss those) and create picture books. Creative writing was always my favorite subject and I used any free time I had to sit down with a notepad.

Not much has changed, except that now I have developed vampirish habits: my writing "day" typically starts at 1am.

I'm an avid reader and a big fan of cookie ice cream. When working I have to disconnect the internet for fear of being endlessly distracted by websites such as

My Devouring Love: The First Weeks

Sixteen year old Abigail Mitchell wasn’t prepared the day the zombie apocalypse began. Neither was anyone else. But then again, who would be?

While visiting her estranged father over four hundred miles away from her home in Pineville, Kentucky, Abby learns that the dead is resurrecting and attacking the living. Hell bent to get home to her mother and boyfriend Conner, Abby is forced to make the journey home alone with her six year old sister Ava in tow.

Zombies are everywhere. Marauders are taking what they want and killing whomever gets in their way. And Abby fears she may never make it home again.

Realizing the trip home will not be as easy as she thought, she decides to join together with another group to increase her chances of survival and to get Ava home safely. And even then it proves to be a challenge.

Nothing else matters to Abby but getting Ava home safely to their mother and herself back in Conner’s arms, that is, until she meets Jeremiah. Then nothing seems to go as she planned.

My Devouring Love: The First Weeks is a zombie novel with a love story mixed in. Due to graphic language recommended for ages sixteen and up.

My Review

I received a copy of this book from Ms. Hawkes in exchange for an honest review so here it goes: A MUST READ! From the minute I opened this book I could not put it down as Ms. Hawkes carried me away via her story line. Isabel appears to be a strong and independent woman but looks can be deceiving. Peter of course is hot, sexy and mysterious and my curiosity is at a high and climactic peak. I can't wait to read part two to see how this steamy story unfolds.

Ariana graduated in English and Latin lit. Since then, she's been writing full time, for both work and pleasure. When she's not doing that, she loves reading literary fiction, fantasy, romance and erotica, and snuggling with her man and their two huskies.

She had always loved the idea of serials - cliffhangers, dynamic writing, the thought of the writer sitting up all night to get the latest installment finished - and was sad that they weren't in fashion anymore. So she's super excited that ebooks offer the perfect format to bring this exciting writing style back to life again! Connect with Arianna via Facebook:
