Blurb:

When Josie Carter found out she would be the head makeup artist for the famous Rodney Bator, it was hard not to be a little star struck. Working on her first big movie picture was a dream for the small town girl from Arkansas. But, her natural passion for acting has been pushed aside for many years now after the accident that killed her eldest sister. Seeing life through the lens of that tragedy had made her apprehensive to accept anything good, including the kindness and love of the incredible actor she worked with every day.
All Rodney ever wanted in life was to prove to other werewolves, like himself, that it was possible to live in the midst of humans and not have to worry about discovery. The old world superstitious ways were a thing of the past, but he still knew many of his kind that lived in hiding - including his own father. Sure that his message was only enraging the alphas of the world, Rodney was ready to hang up his actor hat and settle down. And he knew just who he wanted to settle down with.

Author Bio

Author Bio –  Sheritta Bitikofer is a paranormal romance author of eclectic tastes with a passion for storytelling. Her goal with each book is to rebel against shallow intimacy and inspire courage through the power of love and soulful passion. Her biggest thrill comes when she presents love in a genuine light, where the protagonists not only feel a physical attraction to one another, but a deep emotional (and dare we say spiritual?) connection that fuels their relationship forward into something that will endure much longer than the last pages of their novel. A devoted wife and fur-mama to two shelter rescue dogs, Sheritta’s life is never dull. When she’s not writing her next novel, she can be found binge-watching her favorite shows on Netflix, doing Zumba with her friends, or painting at a medieval reenactment event.

Series: The Silk Series, Book 4 Genre: Historical Romance, Sweet Romance, Victorian Romance Publisher: Decadent Publishing Publication Date: March 7, 2017
Most ladies dream of finding a husband, but Etta Wilding-Marsh dreams of the law. Establishing a law school for women is the determined firebrandÕs dearest ambition and she has no time for distraction and certainly no time for the wickedly handsome antagonist from her youth.
After years of annoying her from afar, Lord Christopher Hiddleston leaps at the chance to return to Cambridge and the fiery girl he has never forgotten. Now a successful Gothic novelist, Christopher will use his notoriety to support the school...and drive Etta wild.
A chance meeting leads to another, and then the firebrand and the antagonist find a passion of a different sort. But can a woman who dreams too much and a man who never does truly find a happily ever after?

Excerpt

“What is your novel to be about?” A strange kind of excitement filled Christopher. “I thought in the first novel, she could be a client of the inquiry agent and proves herself invaluable in solving the case. Of course, he thinks her frivolous to begin with, but, over the course of the novel, he realises she is more than what she seems and comes to rely upon her insight and counsel.” Etta regarded him for the longest time, so long his stomach felt like lead. “It sounds interesting,” she finally said. Relief tore through him, and he gave a cocky grin. “Of course it’s interesting. I shall write it.” She rolled her eyes. “I should have known better than to think you would be serious for half a minute.” Sobering, he said, “Would you read it? If you saw it in a shop, would you pick it up?” “Perhaps.” He released the breath he hadn’t known he had taken. Her opinion mattered. It always had. In fact… “I should like it if you would consult on it.” She blinked. “I beg your pardon.” “I should like it if you would consult. Be my editor, as it were.” He warmed to the idea. “You were practically my editor on the first story anyway.” “I beg your pardon?” “Your comments.” She still looked utterly confused. “On the passages I included with the articles.” “You mean those gothic scribbles you sent with the articles You actually applied my criticisms?” Now she seemed shocked as well as confused. “Of course. You were correct, every time.” Here was a sight he’d never thought he’d see. Etta Wilding-Marsh, stymied. “Will you be my consultant?” She seemed to snap herself out of it. “I shall have to think on it.” Something inside him dulled, but he swallowed it with a grin. “Don’t think too long. Others would clamour for the opportunity.” “Then perhaps you should ask them.” He merely continued to grin. “I have to go,” she stammered. “Gwen—the duchess—is expecting me.” “Of course,” he murmured. She made to move past him only to hesitate. “You truly wish my opinion?” “Of course.” A smile lit her face, blinding in its brilliance. He sucked in his breath. Heart pounding, he nodded dumbly as she said another good-bye and left, glancing over her shoulder with another smile before disappearing around the corner. Regaining his breath, he silently recounted the last few moments. He, apparently, was to write a series, and not just any series, but a detective series. Something he’d barely allowed himself to think of, he’d blurted out to Etta without a thought. And then, he’d asked her to help him with it. And she had smiled at him.

GUEST POST

One of the most difficult parts of writing historical fiction is making the background historically correct. This is the bain of all historical authors owing to the fact that much of recorded history contradicts each other.

There are many factors that cause this: The victor's histories usually draft what they believe to be their truth. Their great leader saved their people and other people from a tyrant is usually how it goes, even for a country that invades another without any real need, other than greed. This has been the truth since before we started putting it all down with ink and quill.

Another factor is people inventing their own historical facts and through time start to spread it from one person to another, from the village to a city, and eventually across the entire country.

I am not pointing out anyone event because I believe there are far too many to even begin to mention. No matter what country this is being read from, I bet the reader without too much difficulty would be able to think of such an event in their country or a neighboring country.

So what do you do when even Wikipedia's version of the historical story changes from language to language? I know that someone out there is at the moment chomping at the bit wanting to write that Wikipedia is not a viable source. Many of the books from and/or about certain time contradict each other. Not to mention the "Historical Blogs" out there. Many of these are more fictional than some of our romance novels.

When I was writing about the events of 13th century Lithuania I was taken aback by how many sources seem to have completely different accounts of the events of this time. Celtic history is just as hard to look into.

I guess this "article" or blog post is more of a call for other authors to toss in what they do and how to handle these issues. As for myself, I like to at least be informed of events around the area I am writing about, so I can make my fictional tale at least feel as though it could have happened. Well, if paranormal creatures actually existed.

But when she's thrust into a world filled with magic, mythical creatures, and gods, she must find a way to control her powers, or be destroyed by a vengeful Circe. But how can she concentrate around the magnetic Alec? Her powerful attraction to him could endanger them all.
Highly recommend! Romance novels aren't normally my niche, but this book was fantastic! It had a romantic undertone but the plot was enthralling and magical. I couldn't put the book down and finished it in just a few days. ... Truly a gem and pleasure to read! I can't wait for volume 2...
- Jessica Baldridge, Goodreads Reviewer
Helen takes on paranormal romance from a fresh angle, combining mythologies rather than painting herself into a single modal corner. She has opened a world with endless possibilities, that I for one cannot wait to see where it goes next.

Approaching 40, I decided to cross one huge achievement off my bucket list…To write a book.
As a young girl, I had always loved to read. Preferring stories with strong female characters, I loved the feeling of being part of their story. Almost like I had been witness to the very events that unfolded on the pages before me. I felt as though these great women were my friends.
I knew that if I did in fact ever write a book of my own, I would only want strong positive women on my pages. I held that dream very close to me, never telling anyone.
Years later, a friend recommended a book to me… I didn’t love it. She made an innocent comment, “Well you couldn’t do any better.” It lit a fire deep inside me. That young girl who dreamt of writing wasn’t dead. She was alive and well, but had been busy working, having children and being a wife.
Those words, while weighed heavily upon me, also freed me at the same time. It was the kick up the butt I needed. “Why couldn’t I do any better?” I could and I knew it.
So, I sat down and began to write. The words flowed so easily. Before I knew it, my book had taken shape.
The beauty was I was able to use the old, “If the book you want to read isn’t written…write it,” theory.
I incorporated a love of strong women and one of my favourite sports…Mixed Martial Arts.
I hope that people who read my book not only love it…and I know you will…but I hope it reminds you that all those little dreams you have, you can achieve them. You can do anything you want. Re-light the fire inside you…and if you can’t…get a friend to accidently do it for you.

Dorothea Sinclair has left her small home town in Maine and come to Boston to begin a career as a newspaper reporter. But so far her job on the Guardian has proved disappointing. More skivvy than reporter, she’s even been subjected to a humiliating proposition from the chief editor’s son. She needs a break but never expects it might come from a chance meeting with an Irish ruffian.

There’s a great deal of injustice in Boston, and O’Hare, embroiled in his fight for equality on behalf of Boston’s Irish, is well aware of it. When he rescues Dorothea’s hat on the waterfront, he’s surprised to learn she’s a reporter. And when she offers him the opportunity to state his case in the Guardian, what can he do but accept? It’s the perfect chance to put his dreams into his own words—and the only sure way to see her again.

He sported a long, leather coat, well-scuffed and worn open to show a pair of rough trousers and a workman’s shirt, unbuttoned at the throat.

Nothing wrong in that. Dorothea’s own father was a worker, if a skilled one—the blacksmith back home. This man had no blacksmith’s build. Instead he looked light on his feet, square-shouldered and graceful as quicksilver. Brash confidence rolled off him in waves.

As she stood staring across the road in consternation, he held up her hat and grinned before casting a look both ways and jogging over to her side.

He brought a presence with him that backed Dorothea up a step or two. She might credit it to the set of those fine shoulders or the grin that still occupied his face or the swagger he displayed that made the most of his height which, surely, didn’t top six feet.

He reached her, spent an instant examining her closely and presented her hat with a sweeping bow worthy of a practiced thespian.

“Lovely miss, I’m thinking this belongs to you.”

“Yes. Yes it does, thank you.”

Dorothea reached for the hat but, like the rascal he undoubtedly was, he kept it from her grasp, pretending to examine it closely. He brushed off a bit of grit from the brim and fingered the now-tattered veil.

“A mite worse for its adventure, but no doubt you can mend it, women having a certain magical talent for such things.”

Again, Dorothea reached for her hat; again he kept it from her only to take a step closer and set it on her head.

“There you go, beautiful lady. You will be sure and hold on to it more closely next time.”

Dorothea, assaulted by the full force of his masculinity, said nothing though she reached up one hand and clamped the hat to her head. She looked into his face and all the breath fled her lungs.

He wore no hat and had a head full of copper curls well-tossed by the wind. His face screamed Ireland with a broad forehead and slightly-squared jaw all sprinkled with freckles visible even beneath his worker’s tan. His eyes—but no. Dorothea met them once before her gaze skittered away much as the hat had, only to return again on a rush of fascination.

Tawny gold as those of a tom cat, his eyes held a world of emotions: amusement first of all, that flaming confidence, an uncanny wisdom and a hint of daring. Dorothea responded to the last first—seldom did she fail to accept a dare.

When the trawler White Gull was lost in a storm off the coast of Lobster Cove, Lisbeth O'Shea's husband, Declan, was lost along with it. At least that’s what Lisbeth believes until, a year later, she hears Declan’s voice in the night and sees him haunting the shore near their tiny cottage. Then she wonders… Has grief affected her mind? Or is someone playing a cruel trick?

Town blacksmith Rab Sinclair has loved Lisbeth ever since he arrived in Lobster Cove. Lisbeth has never had eyes for anyone other than the charming, feckless Declan O’Shea, but Rab knows Declan was not faithful to Lisbeth. How can he convince the grieving widow she’s pinned her heart on the wrong man? And when dangerous secrets come to light, how can Rab protect the woman who means more to him than his own life?

Newly returned home to Lobster Cove from the War Between the States, blacksmith Douglas Grier can’t forget the horrors he’s witnessed or the beautiful young woman he helped break free from her shackles one dark night after her master’s plantation burned. He wishes he had at least asked her name, even though she and her family disappeared into the darkness and Douglas has no expectation of seeing her again.

Josie Freeman can’t remember the last time she felt safe. Even though she and her family are freed, they’re being pursued by slave hunters hired by their former owner. When their ship is damaged on the way to Nova Scotia, Josie is thrown into contact with the one man she never expected…the very man she had wanted to see. But will her past catch up with her before Douglas can free her heart?
